This grant paid for for critically needed dental services for up to 50 low-income and indigent residents in south Santa Barbara County. The all-volunteer, 120-year-old Cecilia Fund receives medical and dental referrals from local agencies serving the working poor, the unemployed and low-income families and seniors. Working with healthcare and dental providers to reduce fees, the organization is able to maximize the use of donated funds. Many of the most critical dental cases involve dental work that must be completed before an essential medical treatment such as chemotherapy, joint replacement, or heart surgery can commence.
